Every year the shy and mysterious Red-throated loons migrate to Vancouver Island to nest. On this particular morning I hiked into an area with my inflatable raft. I rowed out to the lake for sunrise and was greeted by two Red-throated loons. In this image shows a Red-throated loon flapping its wings getting ready to leave the lake to hunt and feed in the ocean.
